Everybody wants a good looking bedroom. It is after all, where you go to relax. Nothing beats the feeling of coming home after a long day at work and just falling on to your bed, arms outstretched. To make your bedroom look good however, you need to get multiple things right.
Apart from the placement of the dresser and the type of curtains you choose, your bed can make a huge difference to how your bedroom looks. It is probably the first thing everyone’s eyes are drawn to as they enter your bedroom. It is, without a doubt, the centerpiece of most bedrooms. This is where things get a little hard though, as there are an endless amount of different types of beds and bed frames, and it can get a little confusing as to which one would suit your bedroom the most. So let’s take a quick look at the different kinds of frames available, and where they work.
The Importance Of Choosing The Right Bed Frame
For someone not experienced in furnishing rooms, the importance given to the bed frame might seem slightly unwarranted. After all, it’s just a bed right? Doesn’t the wall or the lighting play more important roles in making a bedroom look inviting? Well…yes and no. It’s a bit of a catch-22 situation.
If you don’t care for the bed frame and instead make everything else look extravagant, the bed frame would still catch visitors’ attention. But in this case it would serve to underwhelm them as the rest of the bedroom would succeed it in looks. However, were you to simply get yourself a good bed frame and leave everything else, the rest of the furniture would drag the look of the bedroom down. Simply put, you cannot unbalance furniture, and must strike an equal balance between everything.
Also, before you go searching for the right bed frame, decide what size your bed will be. Single beds can make do with plain frames, as they’re not meant to take up most of the space in the bedroom. Simple framed singles beds in a corner of the room look perfectly fine. However, if you’re going for a queen-size or king-size double bed, you might want to think about adding a slight touch of style to the frame.

Panel Bed Frames
Panel beds are distinguished by their tall headboards. Simple in every other way, the headboard serves as the main eye-catching feature of the bed. It can be made of paneled or patterned wood, or padded with foam with elegant designs made on its surface with buttons and other trinkets. Your choice of headboard should also factor in how you plan to rest against the headboard – i.e. with or without a pillow and for how long – and if the rest of your bedroom is using sleek, elegant furniture or more poufy variants. To give you a better feel for what panel beds can look like, here are a few suggestions.

Sleigh beds can range from all kinds of styles, but one common factor seems to be that the headboard and footboard are almost always curved in some way. Traditionally, sleigh beds have always been made of wood. Recently however, other option (like metal) have also become available. Sleigh beds suit bedrooms with a lot of traditional wooden furniture and dark tones. In case that’s the look you’re going for, here are a couple of sleigh beds that might strike your fancy.

Poster Bed Frames
There are a variety of poster bed frames that you can get. Which one suits your particular bedroom best is something you will have to decide for yourself. The common underlying factor of a poster bed is that it has four poles rising from each corner of the bed. The different types of poster beds are as follows:
- Four Poster Bed Frame: The most commonly known poster bed frame, this one has equal length poles that rise up and can support a canopy as well as drapes around the bed.
- Low Poster Bed Frame: This poster bed has much shorter poles rising from its corners, though they still end at the same height. This frame cannot support drapes or a canopy.
- Pencil Poster Bed Frame: This frame shares similarities with the four poster bed frame in that it has tall posts of equal length. However, unlike the aforementioned bed frame, the pencil poster frame is not known for drapes or canopies. And the poles themselves are much thinner and simple, with carvings sometimes accompanying their designs. Most of the time, the poles have some sort of stylized tip at the top.
- Half Poster Bed Frame: The half poster bed frame adds a new twist to the poster frame family by changing up the sizes of the front and rear poles. Almost always, the headboard’s poles are twice the length of the footboard’s poles. However, designs with low headboard poles and negligible footboard poles are not uncommon either.
Below we’ve linked one product for each type of poster bed frame to give you an idea of what they’re like.

Bunk Bed Frames
Bunk beds, also known as double decker beds, don’t need any introduction. All of us as kids have dreamed of having a bunk bed in our room. And those who did most likely fought over who got to sleep on the top bunk. Bunk beds are excellent bed frames for saving space in a bedroom, and are mostly used by siblings sharing the same room. Though simple bunk beds just consist of a single bed atop another single bed and a ladder, other, more stylish variations have also made their way into the market.
Other types of bunk beds include the L-Shaped Bunk, which are two beds in an L-Shape with often a couch on the floor, and the Twin Over Full Bunk, which is just a bunk bed with a double-sized lower bunk to accommodate more people. Bunk beds in which the lower bunk functions as a trundle bed are also common. Below we’ve listed some bunk beds for you to look at.

Loft Bunk Bed Frames
The “grown-up” version of the bunk bed; the loft bunk is ideal for people living alone in studio apartments and the like. A loft bunk bed consists of the top bunk portion of the bunk bed, complete with a ladder, with the lower bunk having been replaced with something else; most commonly a desk. This allows for a portion of the room to be utilized for both work and sleep, and helps free up a considerable portion of small apartments and rooms. Below are some loft bunk beds you might want to take a look at.

Storage Bed Frames
Storage bed frames take trundle bed frames one step further. Instead of a limited amount of space under the bed being utilized for storage in the form of drawers, the whole portion beneath the bed is used instead. To access it, one has to lift up the mattress portion. These beds not only provide you with much more storage space, they also get rid of the edges drawers inevitably display. Here are some storage beds you ought to look at.

The TV can be raised by the push of a button, and different frames offer different storage options for DVD or Blu-ray players and gaming consoles. Nevertheless, they have their place and are favored by some people. They are simple beds with not much to say about them really. However, you may want to look at some yourself to decide if they appeal to you.
Bookcase Bed Frames
Perfect for people whose day isn’t complete until they’ve read a few pages of a good book, the bookcase bed frames incorporate bookshelves inside their headboards. Understandably, the headboard is thicker than usual, but the books inside make it look stunning anyway. This is the perfect bed to come home to for bookworms, and is one of the coziest options on the market. Here are a couple of beds that’ll keep your books safe while you’re gone.
And that concludes our brief look into the world of beds, and their various types. If you can’t decide which one you should go for, here’s a tip: It’s the one which appealed the most to you and brought a smile to your face at just the thought of owning it.
