Rohypnol – Treating Sleep Disorders, Insomnia – But Not In The U

The international prescription drug, Rohypnol, is not available for use by prescription or any other method, in the United States. As a benzodiazepine, if you are considering Rohypnol as a drug for use, obtaining it from a source outside of the United States, it is important to understand the implications of this drug’s use.
As a prescription drug that was developed in the 1970s by Hoffman La Roche, Rohypnol was originally made available as a sleeping aid in Switzerland. Within a few years, the use of Rohypnol expanded as it was fount to provide a sedative effect that was supported to the use of anesthesia prior to surgery.

While not legally available in the United States, many sleep disorder sufferers in the United States are finding ways in which to purchase Rohypnol through doctors and pharmacies outside of the United States. Commonly shipped over, illegally, on the Mexican border, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) reports it is a growing smuggling epidemic in the U.S.

While Hoffman La Roche works diligently to promote the effectiveness of Rohypnol, they are also met with great obstacles in areas of abuse and, as a result, provide equal amounts of information regarding the dangers of use and the ban on abuse.

Suffering from a sleep disorder, such as chronic insomnia, may result in your desperate measures to try whatever measures of treatment you can for the sake of obtaining one good night of sleep. While Rohypnol has been shown to be effective as a short term therapy for insomnia, and other sleep disorders, its use can be addictive, even when used for as little as 10 days. For this reason, the drug is not available for use in the United States.

If you are able to obtain a prescription or supply of Rohypnol, and you want to use the drug for short term therapy of your insomnia, the effective therapeutic use is recommended at no more than 1 milligram doses. When using Rohypnol, your blood pressure will drop and you may notice your muscles will begin to relax. With this dosing, you can expect to gain a good six to eight hours of sleep in one night. Doses of Rohypnol at levels any higher than this may result in health complications that will send you into the emergency room.

While Rohypnol is not available for legal use in the United States, many Americans are traveling abroad to obtain Rohypnol as a method to gain short term therapy for sleep disorders. While the drug is shown to be effective for this use, it can be addictive and lead to life long health complications, in addition to legal complications, if it is used, long term, within the United States.
